DoorsEast is a design and innovation network linking South Asia and Europe. Our aim is to learn how to design services, enabled by ICT, that meet basic needs in new ways – and to share this knowledge with citizens, education, industry, and professionals. This website describes DoorsEast 2003, the network's second international encounter, which took place in Bangalore on 11 and 12 December 2003.

The two day encounter had three parts:
- morning plenary presentations by experts and project leaders
- afternoon small groups to deepen knowledge exchange
- informal evening show-and-tell sessions around the city

We called DoorsEast 2003 a "working party" because it was also a celebration of the tenth anniversary of Doors of Perception. DoorsEast 2003 concluded with a Doors birthday party on the Friday evening.

PARTNERS
DoorsEast was organised by:
- Doors of Perception (The Netherlands)
- Center for Knowledge Societies (CKS) in Bangalore (India)
- National Institute for Design, Ahmedabad, India
- Interaction Design Institute Ivrea (Italy).

DoorsEast 2003 built on the success of a previous event, DoorsEast 1, that was held at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad in February 2000. Lasting for a week, DoorsEast1 included a three-day professional workshop for graduate design students and invited professionals from Europe; a two-day seminar entitled 'Design Strategies for the Internet'; and a series of visits to companies. Eighty senior students took part in the workshop, and over 200 professionals and researchers attended the seminar.
